Peekskill, NY/January 2, 2007 – Kieran Lalor, the Republican
candidate for Congress seeking to unseat first-term Democrat
John Hall, today announced the launch of
Iraq Veterans for
Congress, a group of Republican Iraq War veterans across the
country who are running for Congress in 2008.
Lalor said he formed
Iraq Veterans for Congress to help bring
national attention to an outstanding group of pro-victory
Republicans who share a common set of values that Lalor believes
will resonate with voters.
Said Lalor, "Bringing this group together sends a powerful
message to voters across America that as veterans, we are united
in our effort to win back Congress, and we will not stand by as
Democrats subvert America's security and the mission in Iraq. We
owe it to ourselves and to those who have served in Iraq to
pursue victory in Congress, just as we did in uniform."
"I want to establish our group of Iraq veterans as leading the
way for Republicans in 2008. We are running as a unified group,
with a unified commitment to our country and to the voters,"
added Lalor.
"Uniting all pro victory Republicans to share ideas and
strategies was a great initiative of Kieran Lalor and I am
confident that it will have a very positive impact on the
dialogue of this year's Congressional races," said U.S. Army
veteran Lee Zeldin, who is running in New York's 1st
Congressional District on Long Island.
"Military members know well that there is strength in numbers.
Unifying all of the Republican Iraq veterans makes each
candidate significantly stronger," said Ruth Summers, who is
managing her husband Charlie's campaign in Maine while he is
deployed to Iraq.
Paul Phillips, an Air Force B-1 Bomber Pilot running in Ohio,
added: "Who better to relieve the Democrats of their command
than a group of Iraq vets?"
Lalor added that the group intends to bring its message to a
nationwide audience through media appearances and other efforts
that will aid in fundraising, communications, and a number of
other aspects of the individual campaigns.
