Michael Lalor Decries Congressman John Hall’s Memorial Day
Embarrassment: His Vote to De-Fund Troops in Iraq
Peekskill, NY / May 25, 2007 – As the nation prepares to
honor military veterans this Memorial Day weekend, U.S.
Congressman John Hall voted to deprive American troops battling
Al Qaeda of the funds and support they need to win the war in
Iraq. Hall’s vote yesterday on the Iraq funding bill, which
passed the House and Senate overwhelmingly, reveals “Hanoi” John
Hall’s hard left, malicious anti-war stripes and serves as a
reminder of why voters and Veterans in the 19th
Congressional District cannot trust Hall to serve their
interests in Washington.
After this shameful vote, Veterans in the District are right to
be offended by Congressman Hall’s claims to support them.
Hall’s website cynically features West Point cadets, but within
weeks of taking office, Hall told our enemies – from the floor
of the U.S. Congress – that the Iraq war is lost. Now, Hall has
voted against those same West Point cadets and has tried to deny
them the funds they’ll need to vanquish Al Qaeda from Iraq and
win the war.
Hall again sided with the likes of Susan Sarandon, Bonnie Raitt
and Pete Seeger, all of whom are rabidly anti-military and
helped pay for Hall’s Congressional campaign. “If Hall had his
way,” said Kieran Michael Lalor, “Iraq would be left to the
terrorists and murderers who recently kidnapped, tortured and
killed an American GI. I am stunned that Hall wants deny
funding to our troops so they leave Iraq and give these same
barbarians a safe haven to plan attacks on American soil.”
“John Hall’s anti-troop vote is outrageous,” continued Lalor, an
Iraq war veteran who is seeking the Republican nomination to
oppose Hall in 2008. “U.S. troops in Iraq need America’s
support, not Congressman voting against them to appease far left
supporters. Plain and simple, Hall is an embarrassment.”
Hall’s claim to support the military has always been a lie.
Since January, he’s tried to re-tool as “pro-veteran” because he
knows that in this District, 1 of every 8 residents is a
veteran. But his rhetoric and now, his attempt to de-fund
American troops while they are in combat with Al Qaeda, reveal
Hall’s true liberal self. “Is this John Hall’s sick way of
honoring our troops this Memorial Day?” asked Lalor.
Lalor, gaining steam as “the man who will send John Hall back to
Woodstock,” also wants more voters to know about John Hall’s
anti-war history. “Hall’s anti-military beliefs run deeper than
his anti-troop vote this week in Congress,” he said. “Indeed,
John Hall dodged the draft to avoid Viet Nam service with a
phantom injury, but was somehow healthy enough to become an
alpine ski instructor. He was also healthy enough to sail
thousands of miles to go see Fidel Castro in Cuba – despite
travel to Cuba being illegal under federal law. Michael Moore
made a movie about his trip to Cuba. Not to be out done, John
Hall wrote a song about his trip to the communist
dictatorship.”
Hall’s past also features a disgusting partnership with none
other than “Hanoi” Jane Fonda in making an anti-nuke propaganda
film. “At least Hanoi Jane, who famously gave aid and comfort to
U.S. enemies in Viet Nam, was not the member of Congress who
represents the U.S. Military Academy at West Point,” said Lalor.
“To be more irresponsibly anti-American than Jane Fonda tells us
everything we need to know about Congressman Hall.”
Kieran Michael Lalor is an Iraq war veteran and Peekskill
