FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ANDREW SAUL’S LOYALTY GAP
Peekskill,
NY / September 17, 2007 -
It is not clear where Andrew Saul
was raised, because his official campaign biography doesn’t tell
us – oddly, Saul’s life story begins with graduation from
business school. Wherever it was Saul was reared he evidently
did not learn the concept of loyalty.
Here are some recent
examples:
1.
After
Putnam County Republican Party boss Anthony Scannapieco, Jr.
endorsed Saul, Saul
proudly
displayed the endorsement on his campaign’s website – until it
was revealed that
Scannapieco was arraigned on harassment charges and had
reportedly threatened a female reporter if she wrote about
Scannapieco’s legal troubles. Not only did Saul refuse to
defend his friend, but his campaign has now tried to erase the
relationship, pulling any mention of Scannapieco from the site.

2.
Saul
raised big bucks for both of President Bush’s presidential
campaigns. But now that Saul is running for Congress, he’s
abandoned the President on Iraq, saying recently that he will
“be to the left of the president on Iraq,” leaving voters
without any explanation what, exactly, this means. Abandoning
the President for political gain is bad enough, but far worse is
abandoning our troops in Iraq. In the end, while Saul was
cheerleading for Bush’s reelection in 2004, like many
unprincipled Congressmen and Senators, Saul has now retreated,
heading for the hills along with so many liberal Democrats and
weak-kneed Republicans.
3.
As a
member of the Thrift Savings Board, which administers pensions
for federal employees and the military, Saul specifically
opposed restrictions on investing in terrorist states like
Iran. Incredible, Saul said that as for the purposes of making
investments, he is “responsible only for the participants' best
interest, not for the best interest of the United States."
How can the people of New York’s 19th
Congressional trust a self-serving individual like Andrew Saul
to be our only voice in the House of Representatives?
