Lalor Emphatically Condemns Spitzer Plan To Give Driver’s
Licenses To Illegal Immigrants, Saul and Hall Remain Silent
Peekskill, NY/September 28, 2007 –
With his decision to offer driver’s licenses to illegal aliens,
Governor Spitzer signals that national security comes in a
distant second to the agenda of illegal immigrant activists.
Friday’s decision will remove an important security measure
adopted in the wake of 9/11.
All of the 9/11 terrorists, including those
here illegally, had state issued driver’s licenses or
identification cards. Between them, the hijackers had over 30 ID
cards. The ID cards were used to rent cars and safe houses,
open bank accounts, accept wire transfers, and board the
hijacked planes. In response, New York, along with other states
and the federal government, began a process of tightening
security for the issuance of driver’s licenses.
Now, just six years after the 9/11 attacks
devastated New York, Spitzer is putting illegal aliens before
New Yorkers. “This policy will make it easier for terrorists to
operate within the country,” said Kieran Michael Lalor.
“Spitzer wants to bring people out of the shadows, but we need
to remember that there are some very dangerous people lurking in
the shadows. They will come out to take advantage of this
too.”
Lalor was quick to remember the voter
outrage over the Senate’s attempt at amnesty for illegal
immigrants this past spring. “Voters rose up in unison and
loudly told Washington they did not want amnesty. But the
political establishment still does not get it.” Lalor called on
Congress to act to stop this end run around the law and the will
of the people.
Unfortunately, New Yorkers in District 19
should not expect much action from John Hall. Hall’s votes make
it clear he stands with illegal aliens and against the voters.
Hall has voted to allow illegal aliens to vote in union
elections and against enforcing federal immigration law in
cities that adopt sanctuary policies. Hall even voted to allow
illegal aliens to accrue Social Security benefits while working
in the United States. Andrew Saul does not offer Republican
voters much of an alternative. Saul sits on the Board of
Trustees at the pro-amnesty Manhattan Institute and remains
silent on the issue. Voters can trust him to join pro-amnesty
Republicans.
Americans are demanding security and a
crackdown on illegal immigration. Spitzer and the Democrats
have chosen to ignore the public and reward lawbreaking illegal
aliens. We need a representative in Washington who understands
the security threats America faces in the dawning 21st century.
With the serious threats we face today, we cannot play the same
old special-interest politics.
Kieran Michael Lalor, a former social
studies teacher and recent Pace Law graduate, is a Marine Corps
veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom and a national security
activist aggressively exploring a challenge to John Hall in New
York’s 19th Congressional District.
