Hopewell Jct., NY/April 14, 2008 – Today the Kieran Michael
Lalor 2008 campaign for Congress announced its fundraising
totals for the first quarter of 2008.
Lalor has more than
$63,000 on hand which is $5,000 more than John Hall had at this
point in 2006 when he was the challenger even though Hall poured
in $35,000 of his personal wealth.
"That our upstart campaign of regular people has more money on
hand than Hall's celebrity funded campaign did at this stage;
speaks volumes about how well our message is resonating. We are
exciting the Republican base, reaching out to independents and
winning over blue collar Democrats" said Lalor.
By March 31, 2006 Hall had already spent more than $100,000
dollars on consultants and other campaign professionals.
According to Lalor, "John Hall had to pay high priced insiders
in Washington to tell him what to say to the people of the
Hudson Valley. Because I've lived here my entire life and daily
confront the same challenges that most everyone else in the
District does, I didn't have to hire someone to craft my
message."
More than 650 donors helped Lalor add $55,000 to his campaign
war chest in the First Quarter of 2008. "What is amazing is that
we had more than 500 donors and raised about $35,000 in the
month of March alone. That fundraising success has carried over
into April and we have already raised several thousand more
dollars in the opening days of this month" stated Lalor.
As of March 31st Lalor had raised more than $86,000 on more than
800 contributions.
The Lalor campaign also enjoyed an uptick in donations from
Westchester County residents since a Westchester-based primary
challenger emerged in early February. According to Lalor,
"Having a primary opponent who for years has been part of the
failed political machine has helped my fundraising
significantly."
With wide spread appeal evidenced by a stunningly large number
of donors and a growing army of motivated volunteers, the Lalor
campaign is confident they will be able to raise the money they
need to broadcast their message throughout the District.
Concluded Lalor, "My all-American story of going from
Poughkeepsie Journal paper boy, to high school teacher, to Iraq
Marine, to Katrina rescue worker and ultimately to the House of
Representatives; makes people want to contribute their time and
money to our campaign of Issues, Ideas, and Solutions."
