Hall Avoids Two Real Town Hall Meetings, Stages Phony Town Hall
Meeting Instead
East Fishkill, NY/July 21, 2008 –
Congressman John Hall has become so hesitant to face his
constituents that he is declining invitations to public forums and
instead staging his own town hall meeting.
Recently, Putnam County Democratic Chairwoman
Lynne Eckhart forwarded a casting call from the Hall campaign,
seeking Hall supporters to act in a staged town hall to be held
today.
From Eckhart’s email: “We need about 30 people
to be at the Sheet Metal Workers Hall in Brewster from 2:30 until
5:30, this Monday July 21st. We're looking to build a scene in the
ad that has the feel of a town hall meeting, and we're hoping to get
enough supporters there that have[sic] the crowd we need.” (see
text of email below in italics.)
Today, Hall also suddenly and inexplicably
cancelled his appearance at a Dutchess County Regional Chamber of
Commerce candidate’s forum that was scheduled for mid-August.
Last week, Hall was among the candidates
invited to attend a town hall held in the town of Patterson. Hall
declined to participate despite its being attended by candidates and
elected officials from around the District.
Lalor spokesman Chris Covucci said, “It is
clear John Hall is not anxious to share the stage with Lalor, nor
does he want to answer questions about his record. Most recently
this includes Hall’s votes against the new GI Bill and obstruction
of numerous proposals that would have lowered gas and home heating
oil prices.”
“Why won’t the Congressman participate in a
real, open conversation with his constituents?” asked Lalor.
Lalor asked, “Will Hall disclose to TV viewers
that his supposed “townhall” meeting is a dramatization that is as
legitimate as professional wrestling?”

Hi All,
Below please find
an important request from John Hall's campaign:
We need about 30
people to be at the Sheet Metal Workers Hall in Brewster from 2:30
until 5:30, this Monday July 21st. We're looking to build a scene in
the ad that has the feel of a town hall meeting, and we're hoping to
get enough supporters there that have the crowd we need.
Please contact me
if you can be there and please send out to all your committee
members. It's important that this e-mail not be forwarded so
please let your committee members know this. It is fine for members
to solicit friends who support John.
We are also
looking for a family with elementary school age children to film a
Hall commercial. This would take place in Carmel at 7:00 AM on
Monday. Again, please let me know of anyone interested.
Please feel free
to contact me (845 **********) with any questions you might have.
Best,
Lynne
