Lalor to Get Energy
Security Now! On the Ballot
To focus on energy independence and reducing energy prices in the
short and long term, the Kieran Michael Lalor for Congress campaign
has already gathered thousands of signatures for an independent
ballot line called Energy Security Now!
After gathering more than 6,000 signatures to get the Republican
line on the ballot and 800 signatures to get the Conservative line,
the Lalor campaign began gathering signatures to get Energy Security
Now! and its gas pump emblem on the ballot as a third line.
According to Lalor spokesman Chris Covucci, “Energy Security Now!
gives Hudson Valley voters an opportunity to make the election a
referendum on energy policy. The response has been overwhelming.
People in the Hudson Valley are thrilled that a candidate has come
up with a comprehensive and bold way to make sure real solutions to
the energy crisis take center stage in the upcoming election.”
According to New York state election law, any registered voter in
the district can sign an independent nominating petition as long as
they did not sign a petition for the 19th Congressional
race during the initial petitioning period. “We’ve gotten
signatures from Republicans, Democrats and independents and will
continue to do so until the petitions are submitted to the Board of
Elections in mid-August” said Covucci.
Getting thousands of signatures helps take Lalor’s message of Energy
Security, Economic Security and National Security directly to
voters. Said Lalor, “Every person who signs our petition meets an
enthusiastic volunteer and gets literature about our campaign.
We’ve even had voters sign the petition and then ask if they could
help out and carry Energy Security Now! petitions. This is as grass
roots as it gets.”
Lalor
concluded, “We must recognize this opportunity to take back our
economic and energy security and change the haphazard and
ineffective course the federal government has taken for decades.
This
a pivotal moment for our country and its energy future and we must
act comprehensively, decisively and boldly.”
Energy
Security Now! launched its website www.EnergySecurity2008.com last
week.

The emblem of Energy Security Now! will appear
