Peekskill, NY/November 25, 2007 – Iraq Veteran and national security activist Kieran Michael Lalor is planning to announce his bid to represent New York’s 19th District in Congress tomorrow, Sunday, November 25, 2007.  Lalor will make the announcement at 2:30 PM at the American Legion Post 274. The post is located at 936 McKinley Street in Peekskill.

“Washington has become a confused mess,” said Lalor. “People are clamoring for a change. I’m offering new blood and a new direction.”  Lalor described himself as a steadfast Reagan Republican.

Born and raised in the Hudson Valley, Lalor’s life has been one dedicated to serving his community and country. Upon graduating from Providence College, he worked as a social studies teacher at Our Lady of Lourdes High School in Poughkeepsie. Lalor enlisted in the Marine Corps, serving
six years and fulfilling a lifelong dream of following his father, brother, and uncle into the Marine Corp.

Lalor’s Reserve unit was deployed to Iraq in March 2003. His unit conducted security and humanitarian operations in southern Iraq. Upon his return home, Lalor founded the Eternal Vigilance Society to advocate for a proactive national defense and support the troops serving overseas.

Kieran was also awarded a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for performing search and rescue mission in New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

Kieran is a graduate of Pace University Law School. He lives in Peekskill with his wife Mary Jo and their two daughters.

“With the help of my family, friends, and supporters, I’m ready for this new challenge. I want to restore the people’s confidence in Congress,” said Lalor. He continued, “John Hall doesn’t represent the values of the voters in this district. It’s time we send him home.”
